Reel Music Festival Event Branding Concept

The Reel Music Festival is Northwest Film Center’s annual showcase exploring music and culture, featuring performance clips, documentaries and dramatic films from a wide variety of musical genres, both contemporary and vintage. The concept was to promote festival, the films shown, brand the event and reinforce reputation of the festival by using promotional materials that are eye-catching and convey the feel of the event, which is eclectic, funky, jazzy and conveys movement or music. My inspiration was the typography and design of the 70’s, specifically music posters, album covers and Herb Lubalin’s fonts and typography style.

Process of campaign concept. Inspiration largely taken from the design and typography of the 70s. This fit the event since the festival largely features vintage documentaries and performances. My goal was to convey the movement of music into the design and to represent the different genres.
